We strip and prepare your floors, ready for installing your dream new flooring.
You’ve finally got the budget to install the kitchen of your dreams. But you are not sure how to get the kitchen ready so that the work can begin?
Here are a few quick tips to help you prepare your kitchen ready for an upgrade:
Consider alternate eating options
It is likely that your kitchen will be out of action for a while, so consider what you will need to do in order to continue to be able to eat and/or prepare food whilst the renovation is being done. It might be that you need to order takeaways for the duration of the work, or if you are feeling lavish – eat out. Alternatively consider preparing a few meals in advance that you can reheat in the microwave, or simple foods that require minimal preparation and even an alternative temporary kitchen if it is possible.
Think about removal of waste
Have a chat with your tradespeople and ask them about removal of waste, as it may be that they do not remove certain items. Depending on the work being done you may need to consider hiring a skip container to put all of the waste in from the kitchen renovation.
Remove all kitchen equipment
Depending on the extent of the work you are having done, you may need to literally remove everything in the kitchen and box it up whilst waiting for your new kitchen to be installed. If you are just giving the kitchen a small ‘facelift’ and having more aesthetic work done such as replacing cupboard doors rather than full on structural work – you may be able to leave some things in your cupboards. Regardless you will need to remove any counter top equipment and breakables to be on the safe side, and to help the tradespeople as much as you can.
Think of this as a great opportunity to not only get a new kitchen, but to have a good clear out too!
Protect other rooms from dust and waste
If the tradespeople will have to walk through your house to get to your kitchen, then protect your rooms from getting dust or waste on them by putting down old sheets or plastic on the floor, and if you have a narrow route into the kitchen remove any breakables such as photo frames to avoid them accidentally being knocked.
